DVD Course Descriptions
Astronomic Observation (1 PDH) - We review the calculations to determine time of upper cumination at your survey site as well as the calculation of the azimuth of Polaris at any hour angle.
Boundary Law-Colonial States (4 PDHs) - We review Conveyances, Deed Interpretation, Preparation of Legal Descriptions, Adverse Possession, Recognition & Acquiescence, Boundary Line Agreements and Court Preparation.
Boundary Law-Public Domain (4 PDHs) - We review true parallel of latitude, convergence of meridians, rectangular survey system, subdivision of Townships and Sections, monumentation and restoration of lost corners.
Construction Staking (4 PDHs) - We review the pre-constuction conference, field preparation, constuction control, roughing in the roads, clearing limits, storm & sanitary sewer staking, curb staking, house staking, cut sheets, foundation & final survey and may more subjects.
Dendrology (Tree Identification) (2 PDHs) - In this course, which is primarily conducted by Steve Roark of the TN Division of Forestry, identification of trees through seed, bark and leaf is demonstrated both in a slide presentation as well as a field trip to the forest.
Easement Law (4 PDHs) - We review easement creation and termination, dedications, easements by the following means: prescription, implied, estoppel, necessity, including negative & blanket easements, etc.
Land Contracts & Instruments (2 PDHs) - We review real property rights, estates and ownerships as well as title documents, and the various instruments used to convey real property.
Liability & Malpractice (1 PDH) - In this course we show the various pitfalls that the land surveyor may encounter in their practice as well as methods of limiting exposure, service agreements, employee relations, right of entry, certifications, etc.
Mississippi Minimum Standards for Land Surveying (1 PDH) - We review the rules establihed by the Mississippi State Board regulating land surveying published under Rule 21.0 et seq
Mississippi Code of Professional Conduct (1 PDH) - We review the rules established by the Mississippi State Board governing the conduct of it's regulated members under Rule 17.0 et seq
Pricing your Services (6 PDHs) - We review pricing considerations, profit margins, mark-up ratios, establishing hourly rates, project estimating and tracking, pressures on pricing, etc. This is a 4 hour video which requires the submission of a pricing estimate as well as a proposal for a particular project. for the 2 additional hours.
Resolving the Boundary (6 PDHs) - We review title documents, marketable title, color of title, priority of title, partitions & wills, exceptions & reservations, conflicts in descriptions, field preparation and recon, conducting the field survey, analyzing the field evidence, etc
Water Law (3 PDHs) - We review the various terms used in riparian and littoral bodies of water including their boundaries, use and ownership rights.
